In the latest instalment of the RE/MAX Spotlight Series, we spoke to Broker Holly Cascanette of RE/MAX Parry Sound-Muskoka Realty to discover her top 3 ingredients to success in real estate. Enjoy!

1. Prioritize and organize

Every day, I make a list of my priorities for the day and organize them from most important to least. There are many more things I do of course, but this daily list is a must for being organized and getting things accomplished. Further to this; I check my emails. I communicate with my assistant to ensure she is included in the list of priorities and that we have the same goals for the day. While it’s great to have assistants and teams, buyers and sellers want to feel important, not passed on to someone else. Don’t underestimate the value of personal communication.

2. Let your passion drive your success

I love what I do! I am an energetic person and my clients like that about me. Us realtors love to talk. But it is important to listen. I listen to my clients to find out what they really want — I’ve learned when is the right time to talk and when is the right time to listen. I am very grateful for the success I have had; Top 100 (#30) in Canada and Diamond Award 2017 & 2018. However, I take nothing for granted in my work. I work hard and I get back to people as soon as possible. I also try to take one day at a time and try not to compare myself with others, keeping a positive attitude. When things don’t go the way I’d hoped, I don’t dwell on it. I learn from it for next time and move on so I can get back to helping my clients.

3. Make real estate fun

I think what sets me apart is that I make real estate fun! I snowmobile and snowshoe to listings, boat to waterfront island properties. I get involved in the community I live and work in as much as I can — I’ve coached figure skating for 18 years. Doing this has helped me stay connected to the community I’m servicing.
