AGENT SPOTLIGHT: Tonya McIntyre’s CMN Story

Copy of top it up for kids 2-3

In 1998, Tonya McIntyre and her husband were anticipating the arrival of their first child. Due to complications during birth, their baby Brooke was quickly air-lifted to SickKids Hospital in Toronto. Tonya and her family’s world came to a stop, and it was after a grueling 72 hours that Brooke passed away in the arms of her mother and father.

It was 19 years later that Tonya was coincidentally introduced to CMN Champion, Bruce Johnson, through the RE/MAX network. At the time, Bruce was just beginning his Motorcycles for Miracles journey, to help raise money and awareness in support of the Children’s Miracle Network.

“I was intrigued with his journey but didn’t know the reason for it until the day of his late daughter, Alyssa Raes, birthday, when he shared their story. It turns out we both lost children at Sick Kids on the same day, same week, same year, within the same hospital walls.”

Bruce was looking for his champion agents, and being that she would be Bruce’s 98 CMN Champion, she knew it was a sign, as 98 was the year Baby Brooke was born.

Throughout her time with RE/MAX, Tonya has contributed to the Miracle Home Program through every transaction, and has organized various fundraisers to help support and raise awareness for the foundation that helped her family during such a difficult time in their lives.

She strives to encourage fellow RE/MAX agents to also become a Champion of the CMN, and contribute by joining the Home Miracle Program.

“It has to come from your heart. No one ever knows when we will need their services for our own children or loved ones. Follow by example and attract like-minded people who want to share and contribute.”

Tonya and her family cherish the time that they had with their daughter Brooke, and continue to carry-on her memory with their dedication and support of those in need. It was on what would have been Brooke’s 20th birthday, that Tonya’s daughter performed a beautiful dance tribute in memory of her sister.
