If you have ever worked with a millennial, you will more than likely agree that technology plays a large role in your interactions. Besides the fact that trying to get them to answer their “Facebook Machine” as one agent refers to it as, is nearly impossible, finding one common form of communication among this demographic is a difficult task. One thing nearly all panelists agreed on is that you need to pay attention to what your clients prefer and take their lead on your channels of communication. As a business professional, you also need to make sure they know that when it comes to things like negotiating an offer, an actual phone call may be necessary and they need to make themselves available to answer.
If you want to break into this niche target market, you will need to familiarize yourself with things like texting, Facebook Chat, FaceTime, and Skype, and always stay on top of the latest communication trends. Millennials are big on social media, and will prefer to use it both to communicate, and to learn information. You need to be prepared because not only are they going to ask you questions, but they will ask everyone in their personal network. Ensuring the information you are sharing is correct and up to date is imperative with this age group because they have the technology, and the resources available at their fingertips to double check that the information they are receiving is correct.
