With so much going on in or around your community, the opportunities to get your name out there and start mingling with people in your community are endless. When attending events or small gatherings you may not be comfortable with, it is important to implement some key behaviours to ensure you’re successful. First impressions are key, so make sure that you plot your approach carefully. Remember to show up on time, and form an alliance with others that you can easily find common ground with. Last but not least, remember basic skills like listening attentively, and speaking clearly. These are just a few of the ways you can improve your networking skills but there is a lot more involved when it comes to the Art of Shmoozing.

Events, Fairs & Festival:

The summer is jam packed with fun filled events, fairs, concerts, and more. Missing out on these events means missing out on major opportunities to connect with people you otherwise would not have the opportunity to. These events can last well into the fall, leaving you with the time to not only plan, but to execute a plan that will attract people to you for all of their home buying and selling needs. Do some research and find out the cost to set up a booth, or a designated area where you can hand out swag, or simply be there to answer questions. Remember, you may not attract everyone at the event, but even if you get a couple, that is more than what you had before. It is important to keep in mind that you never know if something will work until you try it, so whether you find success or not, you will develop a good plan for how you can find success in the future.

The best part about getting involved in a charity is not only does it help you create more connections, but it helps your community and makes you feel like what you are doing for your business is helping someone else in need.

Client Appreciation:

Without your clients, where would you be? They are such an important part of your business and the warm weather is the perfect time to show them how much you appreciate their business. This doesn’t have to be a large, extravagant affair that will empty your wallet. Host a BBQ, or day at a local pool that is family friendly and a place that will be guaranteed fun for everyone. This will go a long way in showing your clients that they chose the right person to work with and you never know the referral business that will generated from hosting a simple get together to show your appreciation.
