Month of Miracles | Eli’s Story

MoM Week 4

From potlucks, to popcorn days, to our popular dunk tank day, Month of Miracles 2016 has been full of fun and games at the RE/MAX INTEGRA Regional Office. While there have been laughs, jokes, and maybe a little trash talking from those in the hot seat about to be dunked in a pool of freezing water, we never forgot the reason behind it all. If you haven’t been following along, we have been hosting events each week throughout Month of Miracles in support of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, while also sharing stories about those who have been directly affected.

During week 1, we heard about Gavin who was born 14 weeks early and is now thriving thanks to those at Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre. In the week that followed, we heard about Peter who didn’t have the easiest entry into the world. Thanks to the dedicated staff at McMaster Children’s Hospital, Peter is now hitting his milestones for physical development. Last but not least, during week three we were all inspired by Andie’s story and how the care she received is helping her continue to do what she loves, dance! This week, we are sharing Eli’s Story.

Eli's Story

Eli

When Eli was just over a year old, he experienced a brain bleed, which resulted in a massive stroke. Eli had no vital signs when he was rushed from his daycare in West Lorne to Children’s Hospital, where he underwent an intensive brain surgery that saved his life. Following his surgery, Eli spent three days in an induced coma to allow his brain to heal. His road to recovery was difficult, but with the help of his Children’s care team, Eli is now a walking, talking bundle of energy.

Now eight years old, Eli still experiences overwhelming migraines that sometimes result in emergency hospital admissions. He has already undergone multiple brain surgeries and, throughout his lifetime, he will require many more. Despite Eli’s health care challenges, his proud parents share that Eli would not be the amazing big brother he is today without our generous donors supporting his care journey every step of the way.
