There is nothing like relaxing dockside, basking in the warm summer sunshine as you dip your toes in the sparkling water below you to welcome summer. With the scent of campfires in the air and the sounds of children enjoying the outdoors, it is no wonder cottaging is a pastime enjoyed by many Canadians. With long weekends and summer holidays on the horizon, dreams of owning a cottage are growing, with many Canadians looking for alternative ways to finance their dreams of cottage and cabin ownership. Now that we have you day-dreaming about sunny afternoons spent on the water, there is no better time to introduce the 2016 re/max Recreational Property Report.

About the 2016 RE/MAX Recreational Property Report

As real estate prices increase, the dream of owning a recreational property in Canada is less of a reality than what it used to be. After conducting a survey of RE/MAX agents and brokers, over half reported they have seen an increase in buyers who planned to rent out their property either full, or part-time to help finance their dream.

Young Canadians are sustaining demand for access to recreational properties

Now that the low Canadian dollar is having a positive effect on Canada’s recreational property market, Canadians, mostly baby boomers, are once again investing in Canadian recreational markets. They are looking for a quiet atmosphere, but ultimately keep in mind their personal priorities and preferences including location, traffic, and amenities.
