Leading up to our favourite month of the year, we’re treating August, the Month of Miracles (MoM), as a time to not only shout out the contributions our network has made in the last 26 years, but to also help bring more awareness to the Miracle Home Program. One way of doing this is to share the stories of some spectacular individuals like the Johnsons, who have experienced the superb care provided by the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN).
RE/MAX of Wasaga Beach Inc., Brokerage Agent Bruce Johnson and his family are the definition of an inspiration. Bruce and his daughter Holly are setting off on a Motorcycle for Miracles fundraising ride of epic proportions in support of CMN. We could not be more proud to call them one of our own!
About the “Ends of The Earth Ride”
Starting in August 2018 during our “Month of Miracles” for CMN hospitals and to kick off our CMN MoM Carnival Fundraiser, Bruce and Holly will ride approximately 28,000 kilometres from the Arctic village of Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories, Canada to Ushuaia, Argentina, the southernmost town in the world. This self-supported ride will take six months and every dollar raised will go to local children’s hospitals’ highest priority needs.
How the Johnson’s Journey All Began:
Like many CMN stories from our network, the Johnson’s story begins at SickKids Hospital in Toronto, ON. Alyssa Rae was Bruce and Mary Johnson’s first child – she was a beautiful baby with a sweet, soulful gaze. When she was born, Alyssa was diagnosed with omphalocele and in spite of many moments filled with hope for a longer life, Alyssa passed away after 20 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at SickKids.
The Johnson family is profoundly grateful for the care Alyssa received at SickKids Hospital. They have been humbled by the chance to make a difference for sick and injured children now and forever.
To honour Alyssa and make a difference in the lives of countless families, Mary and Bruce Johnson have set up a special fund where 100% of your donation benefits sick and injured children. The Alyssa Rae Johnson Fund supports high-priority needs at SickKids Hospital in the crucial areas of medical research, education, and patient care.
The fund reached its first $25,000 milestone in February 2014 during the first Motorcycle for Miracles ride. Bruce and daughter Holly (12 years old at the time) travelled from SickKids in Toronto, to Costa Rica, stopping at RE/MAX offices like yours along the way and meeting countless new friends and supporters. After reaching their goal, they expanded to a $100,000 goal, which they met at the end of 2015. As Bruce and Holly rode across Canada in 2016, Champion Agents, brokers, friends and family joined the charge in support of SickKids Hospital and the Children’s Miracle Network.
Now, as Holly nears the end of high school, she looks forward to her third and possibly her final fundraising journey with her Dad on a very special route from the Arctic to Argentina. Motorcycle for Miracles’ “Ends of the Earth” ride will be Bruce and Holly’s most ambitious fundraising journey. Please help them reach their goal of raising $150,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network in Alyssa’s honour.
Become a 2018 Champion Agent

To top it all off, Bruce and Holly will be starting their journey at RE/MAX INTEGRA at the CMN Carnival Fundraiser on Wednesday August 1 at noon! RSVP for the event for an afternoon of fun, food, and inspirational people. Bruce and Holly will be there with many of their 2018 Champion Agents for the signing of the iconic journey flag!
